Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR HUGH FREEMAN 1913 - 2007 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Hughie on June 10, 2007. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Thelma; his grandchildren, Roger Cook, Susan Maher; his brother Dennis Falconer; sister Dorothy Young as well as brother and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Iris (2001); his parents, Susan and Arthur; brothers, Gordon, Patrick; sisters, Edna, Betty, Euphima, Emma, Louise and Bertha. Hughie was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and moved to Winnipeg at two years of age. Hughie met the love of his life, Thelma Priestley, in 1927 and married her in 1942. He worked at City Dairies, which became Silverwood Dairies, for 47 years until his retirement in 1977. Hughie was noted for his wit, sense of humour and story telling. Hughie enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards, his garden and travelling. He also enjoyed many summers at Victoria Beach. For the last 20 years Hughie and Thelma enjoyed the social aspects while living at Parkside Manor. Hughie touched the lives of many people. He will be sadly missed. Special thanks to the staff of Concordia Hospital who made Hughie's last days comfortable. There will be a private burial and service at a later date. A reception in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 16 at 1630 Henderson Hwy. from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
